Paradigm: Intent-Based Architectures and Their Risks

In the quest to enhance user and developer experiences in on-chain transactions, Paradigm introduced the concept of "intent-based architecture". Intents are declarative constraints that empower users to delegate transaction creation while maintaining control. Users grant permission by signing an intent, enabling others to choose a computational path. Intents are signed messages facilitating state transitions, distinguishing them from transactions. Paradigm has made two significant design choices for intents:

Given the challenges highlighted around permissionless propagation, Acme has built an intent-based network on the foundations of a permissioned intent pool. Our mission is to simplify the intricate world of blockchain for both users and developers, while ensuring the sanctity of user asset custody and cryptographic identity. Our design offers several advantages:

1️⃣ Create Intents in 1 API

Developers create intents on Acme's permissioned intent pool via Acme’s Stripe-like API platform. Acme manages the entire lifecycle of intents, from creation by developers to user propagation to mempools.

2️⃣ Convert Intents in #OneTap

Acme's user-friendly Checkout experience, similar to Stripe, empowers users with zero crypto knowledge to execute developer intents with one tap. Our web-based Checkout experience is accessible from any device, and carefully tailored to propagate each intent into the mempool.

3️⃣ DoS Resilience

Acme's permissioned intent pool enhances security against DoS (Denial of Service) attacks by eliminating the need for intent propagation. The credibility of Safe and Gelato's infrastructure further enhances trust in propagating intents to various mempools.

4️⃣ Scalable

Acme's intent pool effortlessly handles high volumes of checkout requests, enabling developers to scale seamlessly.

5️⃣ Phishing Resistant

Acme's permissioned intent pool builds trust between users and developers, reducing phishing risks by ensuring intent authenticity, bolstering security and trust.

With Acme's novel design approach, developers can achieve the holy grail of #OneTap user conversion with just a single API call, providing a Stripe-like experience among users even with zero knowledge of blockchain and cryptocurrencies.
